IYTF: from little things big things grow

At the 2006 WSC meeting  in Bangalore, India the IYTF (International Youth Travel Fund) was officially developed. The initial funding of $20,000 was provided by MSF.  The idea initally as now was for the IYTF to enable young Subud members to travel to Subud activities – whether a gathering, camp or a project.  From these experiences it was hoped that they would be inspired to contribute to future activities. This in turn would lead to the development and growth of Subud.

Fast forward to World Congress in New Zealand in 2010 where the IYTF supported 60 young people from around the world to attend. This was only possible because of the $90,000 available at the time  as a result of the IYTF, the fundraising achieved by young people and generous matching donations from MSF and Guerrand-Hermès Foundation for Peace.

Some of those that attended Christchurch 2010 went on to take up roles within the WSC (SYAI reps!), volunteered at Subud projects, began activities within their home countries for youth or become national youth coordinators.  So the IYTF works!

Since 2010 the IYTF has assisted with travel to Yes Quests, Human Force camp as well as international gatherings. The SYAI team have been thinking about Puebla and wants more than 60 young people to be supported to attend.  We want at least 80 young people there (who otherwise may not make it). With the IYTF balance  currently at $22,000, we need to raise at least $60,000 between now and June 2014 to achieve our goal. Sounds like a lot of money, but every single dollar and effort helps.

SYAI have thought about how to achieve our goal and our plans include ;  holding events, utilising gatherings, crowd sourcing,  hosting another online Art Auction and seeking WSA and External Support. These activities will assist us in reaching not only our financial target but also to raise awareness of the IYTF and its achievements.

So, what can I do to help?

–   Help us spread the word. Like this post, comment on it, share in your Subud Youth networks. Share it all over facebook.

–   Donate!Donate! Donate!  Your money or your time or both. Send a one off (or even better a regular) contribution to IYTF via ‘Donate Now’.  Host our next event at the end of April in your local group or support someone who is. Volunteer to collect donations at the next Subud event you attend.

Collectively every little thing we each do will grow into big experiences for us all at Puebla. As always If you need more information, want to get involved or have ideas or suggestions please get in contact (sya-international@subudyouth.net)

With love,

The SYAI team
